Brenda Barger told me about you and your book yesterday. She happened to mention that we might have a bit in common since I am a retired nurse and play Scrabble as often as I can find an opponent. I think she may have misled you by telling you some exaggerated story of my prowess at Scrabble. The truth is that I lost so badly in the last tournament that I played in that I simply quit going to tournaments. I hope to read your novels and I do hope that we can play Scrabble. You can reach me easily at the Pines!! Joanne Rawson

Hi Mat! What a nice surprise to hear from you--it brings up lots of good memories of SLVA. I'm glad you decided to say Hi. Yes, Craig and I are still together and happy. Glad to hear you and Debra are doing well. I'm curious how my book came up for you on Amazon? What were you looking up? Do you still hang out with the psychoanalytic crowd. I'd be curious to hear about them as well. You can email me at gretchhh@aol.com.

Thank you, Todd, for your comment. I think writing daily is essential, in one form or another. I'm between books at the moment, so my morning pages, (Julia Cameron's invention) keep my fingers and writing mind pretty nimble. Still I miss the creative stuff, and am excited to start on my next book.

Butt glue. That's essential to writing. I especially like rule #2: Too many advice books say you must write so many words a day or so many hours, rather than just producing something daily. I use this method frequently, reading over what I've written the day before, editing lightly, and then continuing with something new. It helps get unstuck if you're stuck in writing or gets the cobwebs out if you've come home from a day of money-paying work. I also like to jump start myself reading passages from other books.
